QUIZ – Insect thresholds

jwhetter

Three questions on insects found this week, as well as thresholds and control timing. While flea beetles are still the hot ticket, we don’t have a question on flea beetles this time. See more about them here.

1. What is this?

Bertha armyworm moth trap
2. Diamondback moth larvae numbers are generally low to moderate across the Prairies, but some agronomists have seen the typical windowpane damage on leaves (red arrow.) What is the threshold for diamondback moth larvae at the "vegetative to early-flowering stage" canola?

Diamondmoth larvae and windowpane damage
3. Early canola is coming into flower in the southwestern Prairies, which means sweep netting for cabbage seedpod weevil. What is the economic spray threshold for that pest?
